Web sites
-
Complete Apple Records
The very nice Han Schomaker's "Complete Apple Records" site has a lot of information and detail, though it can be a bit hard to navigate. Includes fairly thorough lists of UK album and CD releases.
-
"Beatles Complete U.K. Discography"
This large but anonymous web site includes a fairly accurate list of Apple singles and Apple LPs, as well as some excellent scans of Apple labels and sleeves in its section on Beatles collaborations.
-
(In)complete APPLE 45's catalogue over the World
This anonymous web page includes a list of catalogue numbers and other information about Apple releases worldwide, and has been my main source for information about catalogue numbers of releases outside the collection. It also links to fine-looking page of Apple single sleeves. [June 2005 - Link seems to be dead.]
-
Troni's Beatles Archive
Well researched German Beatles information site. Includes an excellent list of UK and US apple releases with dates that are almost certainly more accurate than those in the Apple 1973 Catalogue.
-
Apple Discographie Singles in chronologischer Reihenfolge
Briefly descriptive Apple discography in German. At least one error: Baby Blue ausgabe nicht in Großbritannien als Apple 42!
-
Beatles Club of Norway
Includes a list of Apple singles.
-
The Beatles in Sweden
Includes a slightly inconsistent list of UK Apple singles (e.g. includes Apple 9 but omits Apple 7).
-
LetMeTakeYouDown
Another Swedish Beatles fan site that includes a list of Swedish and other European Apple singles. I'm not convinced by the listing of Que Sera Sera in the position of Apple 16, with a release date of September 1969 - not, at least, with the 91624 serial number.
-
Яблоко без "Жуков" - издания других артистов на лейбле
"Эппл"
"Apple without 'the Beetles' - releases by other artists on the Apple label": informative and detailed history of Apple in Russian.
-
Wees' U.S. Apple Singles
A large collection of excellent scans of labels and sleeves, but no narrative information.
-
Apple Sleevographia
Apple Sleevographia by "Thomas": another Apple collector scanning his collection. Excellent for reference and browsing, though images are mostly quite small, and the Shockwave buttons on the home page can be a bit slow to load.
-
Marmalade Skies
"The Home of British Psychedlia". Excellent resource on all such things.
-
Apple Corps Ltd.
The official Apple website. Just a placeholder page for a long time, but now diverts to TheBeatles.com
Artists
- Badfinger
Tom Brennan's Badfinger Library is probably the definitive resource on the Iveys/Badfinger. (Tom also maintains www.splinterlibrary.com, which has information about the career of Bill Elliott.)
Excellent Badfinger Collectors Page from Japan has extensive illustrated discographies ofThe Iveys andBadfinger.
- Brute Force
Stephen Friedland's own Brute Force website. Heavy/funny, apparently! Brutey's been rediscovered recently by indie band Misty's Big Adventure, and together they put on a mighty fine and silly show.
- Mary Hopkin
The very nice Mary Hopkin International Site has an excellent discography and an interesting essay about Mary's Apple releases.
Pat Richmonds Mary Hopkin Friendly Society keeps up-to-date with news about Mary. Includes a nice collection of sheet music cover scans.
- Jackie Lomax
- Yoko Ono
AIU (A Yoko Ono Box) is a nicely designed unofficial Yoko web site that appears to have Yoko's blessing. There is also a Yoko page on the Rykodisc web site.
- Billy Preston
- Radha Krishna Temple
Find out about Krishna at www.iskcon-london.com.
- Ravi Shankar
- Ronnie Spector
Ronnie's web site: you can pick up signed sleeves of Try Some Buy Some if you want. (I must admit Ronnie wasn't quite the Sixties siren we'd like to remember when I saw her singing live with Joey Ramone in 1998.)
- Sundown Playboys
- Doris Troy
Try a Google search for info about Doris Troy. Here's the Guardian's obituary for Doris (Feb 2004).
- James Taylor
www.jamestaylorweb.com: one of several web sites about JT.
- Lon & Derrek Van Eaton
Interesting interview with the Van Eatons. Includes a link to Lon's (or Derrek's) apparently defunct web site, and also claims that Brother is due for CD release. No sign yet, however.
